LBAW encourages and assist

s Latino students and recognizes the needs and voices the concerns of Latino people and their communities. LBAW recognizes the importance of promoting Latino judicial appointments, encouraging respect for the integrity of the judicial system, and advocating for fairness and equality. Join us for the Grandview Legal Clinic on Saturday, August 22, from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. at Yakima Valley College – Grandview Campus!
We are seeking volunteer attorneys with experience in the following areas:

⚖️ Wills & Estates
⚖️ Employment
⚖️ Family Law
⚖️ Immigration
⚖️ Bankruptcy
⚖️ Minor & Adult Guardianship
⚖️ Landlord/Tenant

Attorneys practicing in all other civil legal areas are also welcome and encouraged to volunteer!

July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.
 
Join the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington (LBAW), Washington Lawyers Assisting Lawyers (WaLAL), and the M. Margaret McKeown Federal Bar Association (M3) for the Western District of Washington for a discussion and reception focused on minority lawyer mental health. All are welcome.

Alex Romero is an attorney at Driggs, Bills, and Day PPC (The Advocates) whose commitment to advocacy is rooted in his experience as a first generation child of Mexican immigrant parents. Prior to joining private practice, he spent several years at the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project representing immigrant youth in removal proceedings across all of Washington. Alex remains committed to expanding access to justice through his practice and volunteer work. 

As a law student, Alex protested and successfully convinced his law school to suspend its externship program with ICE.  🤩

Isaac Castaneda is a first-generation attorney and the proud son of immigrant parents from Mexico, whose resilience, work ethic, and determination shaped his values and commitment to service. Growing up, he witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by immigrant and working-class communities, experiences that inspired his pursuit of a legal career. Isaac is dedicated to honoring their sacrifices through advocacy, justice, and service to his community.

The evening kicks off with an introductory class from 9:00 PM to 9:30 PM, making it the perfect opportunity to learn some new moves or practice your bachata turns.

Before heading to the dance floor, join us for a pre-event social at the Art Table at 8:30 PM.

Meet fellow LBAW Board Member Diego A. Rondón Ichikawa (he/him)🌟

Diego is an attorney at Schroeter Goldmark & Bender where he advocates for individuals who suffered harm in employment law, serious personal injury, and sexual assault and harassment.

Born and raised in Venezuela, Diego is a native Spanish speaker. He also speaks Japanese and Portuguese, having lived in Japan and Portugal. Diego’s international upbringing and language skills allow him to navigate various cultural contexts with ease.

Fun fact: Diego used to play drums in punk bands. 🥁
