🌿 REMEMBER THE PEOPLE WHO PAVED THE WAY 🌿
A few comments came in about names not being on the original graphic, and I want to address that with respect.
I know many of you personally, and I know the work you’ve done. You know who you are. ❤️
The truth is, it’s impossible to name every single person who stood on the streets of Vancouver, fought for patients, opened compassion clubs, educated the public, faced arrests, or put their own safety and freedom on the line.
That was never meant to take away from anyone’s contribution. The original graphic was meant to make a point: cannabis legalization did not happen overnight, and it certainly didn’t happen because of a boardroom.
It happened because of real people. Patients. Activists. Growers. Caregivers. Compassion clubs. Lawyers. Researchers. And ordinary people who refused to stop fighting.
And yes, there are so many more names that deserve to be remembered. Some are still here to tell their stories. Some have passed on. None of them should be forgotten.
I’m sorry if your name wasn’t on the original list. That was never my intention. 🙏
Here is an updated graphic, adding more of the people who helped pave the way. And even this list is only a small part of a much bigger history.
I hope we can continue to acknowledge, respect, and celebrate the people who came before us — and the people who are still standing up for patients today.
Respect the roots. Remember the pioneers. Protect the plant. Fight for the patients. 🌿💚
