Artist bio: Everett Goodyear is a Vancouver- based screenwriter and graduate student in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of British Columbia. His work spans film, writing, and visual media.

Poland secures a historic victory on the global cinema stage. Director Paweł Pawlikowski took home the coveted Best Director prize at the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony on Saturday for his brilliant postwar drama “Fatherland.”

Poland is making a strong showing at the Cannes Film Festival, with films spanning the main competition, shorts and restored classics, highlighting both established and emerging talent.

Among them is Paweł Pawlikowski’s Fatherland, a Palme d’Or contender gaining strong reviews, alongside projects linked to Krzysztof Kieślowski and restored works by Andrzej Wajda and Jerzy Skolimowski, underscoring Poland’s broad cinematic presence this year.
