Our BVGH and ASM Introduction to Scientific Writing course launches Sept 3. The course consists of 10 sessions and will cover various aspects of publication development including writing practices and manuscript sections.

Certificates of Completion will be awarded to individuals who complete the pre- and post-course exam and attend at least one lecture live. Certificate of Completion with Merit will be awarded to individuals who complete the pre-course exam, pass the post-course exam with a score of 70% or higher, and attend 65% of lectures live on Zoom or through the BVGH Learn platform during the course.

BVGH organized and led digital training programs on the Fundamentals of Biomedical Research, with both Part 1 and Part 2 now available on BVGH Learn. Part 1 of the course, which was designed for professionals in low- and middle-income countries, attracted 984 participants from 79 countries. Experts from the University of Washington, The University of British Columbia, Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi), Wellcome Trust, and Baylor College of Medicine covered topics prioritized by BVGH partners, including diagnostic development, identifying and securing research funding, and the biomedical research landscape.

Building on the Fundamentals of Biomedical Research Part 1, Part 2 drew 2,341 participants from 101 countries. Faculty from Vanderbilt University, the American Society for Microbiology, Stanford University, Taylor & Francis, and the University of Pennsylvania covered data management systems, applied statistical analysis, and navigating the publication process.

Our upcoming AAI Treatment of Prostate Cancer digital training program will launch on August 25, 2026. This training program consists of 9 sessions and is tailored to meet the needs of oncologists and nurses in Africa. The course will cover priority topics from AAI partner hospitals, including surgery for prostate cancer, radiation therapy for prostate cancer, androgen deprivation therapy, psychosocial health, management of advanced disease, and more.

Certificates of Completion will be awarded to individuals who complete the pre- and post-course exam and attend at least one lecture live. Certificate of Completion with Merit will be awarded to individuals who complete the pre-course exam, pass the post-course exam with a score of 70% or higher, and attend 5 lectures live on Zoom or through the BVGH Learn platform during the course.

Washington, D.C. and Seattle, Wash.— American Society for Microbiology (ASM) and BVGH are launching a new 10-session digital lecture series on scientific writing, with initial focus on peer-reviewed manuscripts, and tailored to meet the needs of scientists globally. Opportunities for professional development are limited for many scientists in low-resource settings, not only for technical skills in specific disciplines (e.g., microbiology, oncology, clinical), but also for general professional skills such as preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications. These skills are critical tools for career advancement.
