He wasn't even 3 months old the first time he showed up, exhausted, hungry and thirsty resting under brush next to our house. When we finally coaxed him out, we also learned he was completely flea and tick ridden and without any ID.

A dog named Bobby was surrendered to Miami Dade Animal Services, and soon melted the hearts of the volunteers and bonded with them.

Unfortunately, this didn’t mean Bobby was immediately adopted. In fact, after only two months at Miami Dade Animal Services, things were looking very grim for him. That’s because he was placed on the list no animal wants to be on: the code red list.

However, Bobby’s luck was about to change, thanks to social media. A photo of him wearing a Christmas sweater was posted online. But Bobby’s expression stood out in stark contrast to the festive sweater — he looked depressed and heartbroken...

Animal control officers found a dog tied to a backyard fence with an open wound over the majority of his neck. It seems as if the husky had been left tied to the fence for days after his owners moved to a different state.

They told one of their neighbors that they were moving from their home in Roselle, New Jersey to Sandy Springs, Georgia. They said they were leaving their Husky behind but would eventually come back to get the dog.

As if it is a mark of death, countless puppies like Tennison Mars are needlessly euthanized just for being born with a cleft lip or palate (or other birth defect).

An underdog from the start, Tenny fought for life from the moment he was born, due to his cleft lip and palate. He required tube feeding and specialized care around the clock. Because he could not nurse on his own, intervention was necessary for his survival, which meant that he would be separated from his mom and hand raised at just hours old due to the severity of his condition...

We were looking for a dog to heal our hearts, as our previous dog Didi had left us far too soon. A small dog was our goal, so it was off to the shelter with us.

We went to the first Pop Up Adoption that the RSPCA had ever had in Brisbane, Australia, with high hopes. Unfortunately, all the smaller or medium-sized dogs were being adopted so fast that I couldn't find anything.

My kids were young and bored with the whole process, so my wife took them out of the event to play on the nearby playground. The responsibility fell to me to find a suitable pet.

I continued to wander from aisle to aisle until I came across a young lad that wasn't barking like the others. He just sat there with a dignity and grace wagging his tail.

I walked over to say hello, and we immediately bonded; he refused to leave my side. So he had made his choice, I was his.

I called my wife...

Meet Polly.

The eight-month-old Labrador retriever mix should be running and playing like other puppies, but this sweet pup has endured severe neglect which has resulted in a swollen head.

The puppy arrived at Bayou Buddies in Louisiana with an enlarged head due to a deeply embedded collar. She was rushed to the veterinary clinic where the collar was removed, and the deep laceration was cleaned and treated.

She was sent to a foster home to recover and at first her swelling started to subside, and she was on the road to recovery.

Sadly, a month later her head started to swell again. She was rushed back to the vet who told the shelter, “her swelling is due to strangulation from the scar tissue from the embedded collar.”
