BUILDING A MASTERS COMMUNITY

At Momentum Northwest, we believe cross-country skiing is one of the true joys of winter. Globally, skiing fosters community in the coldest climates; here in the Puget Sound, we strive to be a catalyst for that same connection.

While Momentum will always be a youth-first organization, we recognize that our next evolution is to create a space for an adult community—one dedicated to lifelong learning and the support of our youth and junior skiers.

Following two successful winters of structured adult programming, we are excited to launch our Year-Round Masters Community. Members will get an inside look at the club’s growth and the world of modern junior racing, plus access to custom team apparel. Most importantly, we will host monthly events ranging from hikes and socials to clinics and races. In addition to all of this our hope is that our communication tools provide a space for group runs, training opportunities, or simply carpools to the mountains.

By joining the Masters, you aren’t just improving your own skiing—you’re becoming a major force in supporting the next generation of skiers in our region. A link to register is in our bio or and complete information and price can be found at momentumnorthwest.org!

Our junior skiers may have moved on to spring sports, but the ski racing season wasn’t over for MNW coaches, masters skiers and parents last weekend at the marathons. Racing is one of the many facets of skiing that tie the Momentum Northwest community together and we want to share it with more of you! We had a ton of fun last weekend and want to bring more Seattle-area skiers along for the ski!

MNW skiers pushed themselves last week at US Ski and Snowboard Junior Nationals. Here’s how Willem, Lucie, Miranda and Ena have reflected on their experience.

“Going to JNs is proof of the hard work put in to earn the spot on the team and a chance to watch and learn from other great skiers.” -Willem U16M

At MNW we set goals that specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound. Each training year athletes think through the processes required to meet accomplish these goals. Guiding our athletes to accomplish their goals is the measure of our clubs success.

Momentum Northwest has four skiers racing representing the Pacific Northwest at US Ski and Snowboard Junior Nationals hosted by The American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation this week. We are incredibly proud of the dedication, hard work, and commitment it took to get to here. Racing starts tomorrow with the 5k skate for our U16 athletes and 7.5k for U18 athletes. Individual races are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, with team relays on Saturday!

New Year, New Snow, and a Big Thank You ❄️

As the sun rises on 2026, I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has been a part of Momentum Northwest in the past year. Our community embodies everything that cross-country ski culture asks for: a sense of adventure, the toughness to endure cold weather and cold races, and the camaraderie and support our athletes share with each other.

When faced with challenges in 2025, our community came together, supported each other, and continued to strive towards our mission to get more kids on snow—learning to ski and race on cross-country skis.

Thank you, again, to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Here’s to a snowy 2026! Snow is on the ground now and it is time for programming to start in earnest. In the coming weeks, Mavericks, Yeti, MNW Junior Team, and our first-ever Masters program will get on snow!

My goal for 2026 is to become more dynamic. Dynamicism is the ability to absorb adversity and push back stronger; it is change and progress. In skiing being dynamic is being being powerful, it leads to speed and control. To me this goal is personal, an idea to instill in our athletes, and for our growing club. New camps, new programs, new successes in 2026!

Race Post- Pineapple Express

The Momentum Northwest Junior Team packed up Mojo (our new van) to head to our first race weekend of the season. We found ourselves in BC in British Colombia once again, this time at Nickel Plate Nordic Centre. We were met by great snow, cold temps, and sunny skies all weekend.

A double distance weekend had our skiers pushing themselves, discovering what racing at 6000ft above sea level can feel like.

The athletes represented the team well and we are proud of the time, dedication, and effort they put forth for what was ultimately a challenging weekend.

We are super grateful for our hosts and the clubs that made the race happen & . 🍍🤘
