Murray Stenson has been serving people for over three decades (36 years to be exact, I think) from behind Seattle's most esteemed bars. Now, he has a heart ailment that prevents him from working in the profession to which he has given so much. This online fund, MurrayAid, has been established to raise money for his medical expenses, which will include heart surgery and an extended recovery. Watch

this page for upcoming events and ways to help our friend who has brought so much joy, laughter, and inspiration to so many people for so many years. HOW TO DONATE: The BEST way to donate is to go to www.murrayaid.org and click the DONATE button. You can also donate from FundRazr button on this page. This can be used if you don't have a Paypal account, or would rather use a credit or debit card. This method gives you the option of being a Paypal "guest," without opening an account, and allows you to donate anonymously if you wish. This does have a higher fee associated with it--about 5%. Every donation through Paypal currently generates an email to Murray with donor's name and amount donated. We are working on a way to add anonymous donations--if you wish to do so now, contact me directly via email at [email protected]. Donations to MurryAid via Paypal are considered gifts for tax purposes, and are not tax deductable (up to a limit of $13,000 per person, that is ;-). Murray has direct access to these funds to cover immediate expenses. TRUSTEESHIP: Murray has asked Evan Wallace to be the trustee of the donated funds. Note that the Paypal account has his name attached to it, which is why the pop-up dialog and/or confirmation email may say you are sending money to him. Hi Everyone
Great news! Murray had heart surgery about a week ago. The surgery went really smoothly and so far recovery is going well. He was discharged this morning and is back at home, happy to cozy up on the couch with his two beloved cats.

Big thanks to the great nurses, doctors, surgeons and other staff at UW Medical Center.

And big thanks to all of you for your continued support.

The last of the scheduled Seattle events took place last Sunday at Greenleaf, netting $2,800 for MurrayAid. That brings the total of Seattle events to over $80,000, with a couple venues yet to report. A tip of the hat to all Seattle bar folk for pulling together and taking care of one of their own.

For a comprehensive update on the status of MurrayAid and Murray's condition, go to our just-relaunched new website at www.murrayaid.org. Click on the most recent News article on the home page for details (thank you Ingeniux Corporation for donating the software, design work, and implementation services for this site, and to Stevi for content entry).

Here's a thumbnail summary: MurrayAid has raised over $194,214 to date(!), and the total continues to rise as event donations from over 50 events continue to come in. We have set a final goal of $225,000 for the fund. Murray's surgery is tentatively scheduled for early January.

We wish you well, our friend! You'll be back behind the bar in no time.
