🌱 Meet our partner, Viva Farms and learn more at the Auction on October 24th!
Since 2009, Viva Farms has helped beginning and limited-resource farmers build successful farm businesses by providing access to land, training, equipment, infrastructure and bilingual technical support.
Today, 36 farms operate through Viva Farms’ incubator program, growing everything from salad greens and tomatoes to berries, culturally specific vegetables, herbs and flowers.
And some of that incredible local produce makes its way directly to our shelves! 🥬🍅
As the food assistance landscape has changed and traditional sources of donated food have declined, UDFB now purchases more than half of the food we distribute. That includes roughly $150,000 each year in fresh produce from small local farms, including Viva Farms. These partnerships help us keep nutritious food on our shelves while investing in our local food system.
