Northwest Hickory Players The official founding of NW Hickory Players happened following a round of hickory golf at Chambers Bay on New Year’s Day 2014 (above).

The Northwest Hickory Players is a voluntary association of golfers formed to enjoy and encourage playing golf exclusively with hickory era, pre-1935 equipment. The goal of this group is to preserve and promote hickory golf in the traditions of the bygone days when golfers, wearing knickers or other period clothing, played with brassies, spoons, mashies, and niblicks. We invite players from Washin

gton, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia to join us on-line via our website. The NW Hickory Players are affiliated with the Society of Hickory Golfers and follow their guidelines for equipment.

The deadline for entering the Columbia Cup at Gearhart Golf Links is coming up quickly. July 1 is that deadline. There are 53 or 54 entered at this time and room for a few more. Gearhart Golf Links is the site of this year's US Hickory Open, to be played in September.

We can report that spirits are high in Ireland. John Henry Williams and Eddie Johnson are nearing the end of their nearly 2-month trip. Rob Birman and Tim Alpaugh are there this week. Williams and Johnson will meet up with Tom Kennedy for the Irish Hickory Open later this month.
