We encourage you to check out this creative project by Bombshelltoe: Illuminating Radioactivity: Elevating Our Understanding of Radiation. https://illuminating-radioactivity.com/

The advent of nuclear weapons fundamentally changed our emotional relationship with the term “radiation” irrespective of whether it is naturally-occurring or man- made, dangerous or benign. While nuclear anxieties made it easier to educate the public about radiation protection during the Civil Defense era, fear flattened “radiation” into an abstraction, extinguishing the potential for genuine education – one that evoked a sense of curiosity, wonder, and responsibility.

Illuminating Radioactivity offers a fresh approach to nuclear education: history and science literacy through narrative and visual arts. This project invites readers to see the invisible, and unpack our fears.

The Trump administration is proposing a cut to the Hanford nuclear site budget of about $400 million, delaying some environmental cleanup projects. Tri-City Herald

U.S. Senator Patty Murray said in a statement, “Hanford is the largest nuclear cleanup site in our country, and it is not only dangerous, but costs more in the long run to cut corners on nuclear waste cleanup. Trump’s proposed budget is a slap in the face to the Tri-Cities, threatening the Hanford cleanup mission and the community with this absurd budget request.”

“(It) is not only dangerous, but costs more in the long run to cut corners on nuclear waste cleanup.”
