Since 2017, our family – alongside a group of volunteers – have been collecting winter clothing, personal hygiene items and food for homeless individuals in Seattle through a project name BLANKETS FOR A CAUSE.

Every year, we meet at Pioneer Square with one mission: to bring a warmer Christmas to our homeless community in Seattle.

Today is and we're asking you to HELP US REGISTER THIS DREAM so that we can grow this effort by requesting grants that will allow us to access more resources for our HOMELESS community in Seattle.

Your donation will allow us to register our organization as a 501(c)(3) non-profit so that we can have the ability to accept contributions and donations that are tax-deductible to the donors.

There are many ways to support this cause and to get involved:

What’s Homelessness’s Really Like?

After years of steady declines, homelessness is once again increasing in the U.S. More people are having to live either in shelters or unsheltered, expelled from housing by any of countless forces, and most experiences of homelessness are hidden by design.

The way the U.S. estimates rates of homelessness — with groups of volunteers counting people unsheltered and in shelters on a few nights in January — ensures that official numbers reflect only the most extreme and visible aspects of the problem. The count of 582,462 people in the most recent report to Congress leaves out, for example, the person finding sanctuary for a few nights on a cousin’s couch. But we know that more than a million people experience some form of homelessness every year.

The Times interviewed 30 people from around the U.S. who have experienced homelessness. Their voices reflect the variety of individual experiences — from people who first experienced homelessness as young children to people who lost their housing in their older years. The conversations are about living on the streets, sleeping in vans and bathing in fountains. But they’re also about what helped, what made it harder and when things turned around.

King was an influential civil rights leader — best known for his work on racial equality and ending racial segregation in the United States. His life and achievements are remembered and celebrated on this day.
