Chinese Arts and Music Association Welcome to the homepage of CAMA!

Here you will find everything you want to know about our organization, samples of Chinese classical music, specifications and history on various kinds of Chinese classical music instruments. CAMA was founded in the mid 1980s where a surge of new talent and interest in Chinese music was emerging in the Pacific Northwest. CAMA saw the need to develop and encourage the growth of the new musicians in

the area and as a result, in October 1986 CAMA formed the Seattle Chinese Orchestra. Later, as the Seattle Chinese Orchestra progressed, the association began to have a vision of providing a higher level of professional Chinese music performances to its audiences. In April 1989, the Warren Chang Music Ensemble (now known as the US China Music Ensemble) was formed, displaying some of the association’s best performers. Sponsors who supported CAMA provided funding for the newly formed ensemble and a tour was mounted, gaining a widespread popularity for the ensemble.

🎶 🎶What a wonderful afternoon at the 15th Annual Redmond Arts Festival! The Seattle Chinese Orchestra Ensemble was honored to perform at Redmond Town Center as part of this incredible celebration of art, music, and community presented by VALA Eastside.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the EvergreenHealth Music Stage to listen, cheer us on, and experience the beauty of traditional Chinese music. It was a joy to share our music with so many families, friends, and festival-goers throughout the afternoon.

A special thank you to VALA Eastside and Redmond Town Center for hosting such a vibrant community event and for inviting us to be part of this year's festival. We are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate cultural diversity through music alongside so many talented artists and performers.

We look forward to sharing more music with our community soon. Thank you for your continued support of the Seattle Chinese Orchestra!

The Chinese Arts and Music Association (CAMA) proudly presents Beautiful Night in the Autumn Light, the 39th annual performance of its acclaimed East Meets West Concert Series, on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 7:00 PM, at the Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall in Benaroya Hall.
This year’s concert is a celebration of the Moon Festival, a cherished tradition across East Asia when families gather beneath the full moon to reflect, reunite, and celebrate the harmony of the season.
Set in the Year of the Fire Horse, the program draws inspiration from one of the most dynamic signs of the Chinese zodiac—embodying passion, vitality, freedom, and bold transformation. Like a horse in full stride and flames lighting the night sky, the performance unfolds as a continuous, immersive journey—radiant, powerful, and driven by unstoppable energy.
The Seattle Chinese Orchestra (SCO) will be joined by featured performers from the SCO Guzheng Ensemble, the SCO Ensemble, and the ever-popular SCO Drum Ensemble, among others. Together, they will present a vibrant fusion of Chinese musical heritage and contemporary artistry, blending ancient traditions with modern expression in a seamless and dynamic musical journey.
As the first and only traditional Chinese orchestra in the Pacific Northwest, we are honored to continue our legacy of sharing China’s rich musical traditions. For over 30 years, CAMA has fostered understanding, appreciation, and friendship between American and Chinese communities through the universal language of music.

The SCO Ensemble recently had the opportunity to share their musical artistry at the Second Saturdays: Art x Music Festival Celebration at the Postmark Center for the Arts in Auburn.

It was a joyful afternoon welcoming spring through music, creativity, and community. During the collaborative art activity, families and participants painted along with the music, creating vibrant canvases inspired by rhythm, harmony, and personal connection.

A special thank you to for leading the art activity, and to everyone who joined us to listen, paint, and celebrate together. We are grateful to share music with such a warm and welcoming community. 🎶🎨
