'Within the Layers' 💧🌎💙 "The constant shifting of soil, stone & water reveals intriguing patterns in the earths surface. Mimicking these textures using a combination of fiber & acrylic I've cast molds of stones, created 'crystal' shards then encapsulated the surface in a transparent 'water-like' layer."

The Lynnwood Event Center at The District is proud to announce the opening of its latest art exhibit, Pacific Northwest Perspectives, a collection showcasing the imaginative work of 25 members of Northwest Designer Craftartists (NWDC). Come explore how to use Acrylic Mediums & Gels to transfer imagery into your artwork! This technique is an excellent way to incorporate images & text layers into your paintings, collages or other mixed media works. I will share samples, demonstrate the process, answer questions and work with artists individually during the workshop. Each artist will create samples of the technique, which will serve as a valuable reference for future projects. All materials provided.

July 13th through August 24

“Perspectives”

Deborah Ann, fabric artist from Yakima WA. has a large exhibition opening at the Larson Gallery, in Yakima WA on July 13th and running until August 24th. The Gallery is located at 1606 W. Nob Hill Blvd on the Yakima Valley College campus.

Deborah Ann has been creating fabric art for over 40 years using pieces of hand dyed fabric in landscapes and architectural designs. Her emphasis on detail and color makes the work stand out from that of other artists.

The exhibition is titled “Perspectives” as it is shared with Susan Hahn, a well-known painter. They have often used the same image as the starting point for a piece then gone on in their own perspective on the ex*****on. This makes the exhibit unique.

Surface Design Association is excited to announce Hunter / Gatherer, our Spring 2024 edition of Surface Design Journal. “As hunter-gatherers, our paleolithic forebearers foraged natural resources until about 12,000 years ago when archaeological evidence of agricultural practices started to appear. Our nomadic lifestyle waned as humans built permanent settlements and domesticated plants and animals. This issue of Surface Design Journal highlights the relationship between performance art and natural dyes: a relationship that centers on beauty, ritual and tradition.
