This is Riley.
At a majestic 100 lbs, 7 year old Riley is a striking red Doberman with a unique white "crest of immortality" stripe down his chest. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, crate-trained, and completely housebroken.
Riley is being rehomed through no fault of his own after his owner suffered a stroke and could no longer keep up with his exercise needs. It is incredibly clear he has been deeply loved and highly trained!
The Good Stuff
Highly Trained: He knows sit, down, heel, stay, and come thanks to professional private training.
Perfect Passenger: He rides beautifully and calmly in the car.
Kid-Friendly: Riley is friendly with strangers and has a history of being incredibly gentle with children. However, since there has been some resource guarding reported, we recommend a home with older, dog savvy children.
Affectionate: He is playful, loving, and his absolute favorite thing in the world is a good bully stick.
His Ideal Home
Because Riley is a big, powerful boy, he needs an experienced handler who understands the breed:
Other Dogs: He can be dog-reactive on leash due to fear (not aggression), though he has lived peacefully with other dogs, including two very small dogs. He just needs slow, supervised introductions.
Prey Drive: Riley has a strong prey drive. He cannot go to a home with chickens, or livestock. Interestingly, he has successfully lived with an indoor cat before, but a small-animal-free home is safest.
The Perfect Match: A patient, structured home that can provide him with the mental stimulation and exercise he deserves.
