Rounding out our introductions of the Women in THE YELLOW WALLPAPER, meet Kim Douthit. Kim plays Katie, a current-day blogger with a shot at writing a real book. Her story is juxtaposed with Hazel’s throughout Act II.

Kim received her BFA in Theatre Arts from Hofstra University and did her post grad work at LAMDA in Classical Acting. She worked for a number of years in NYC before relocating to Seattle. Some of her favorite credits include Honey in WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLF, Ophelia in HAMLET and Joan of Arc in HENRY VI, PART 1. In her free time, she works as a paranormal investigator and writes about horror as Supernatural Honey for www.thehorrorhoneys.com. She is thrilled to be working with such an amazing group of women.

Continuing our introductions of the Women in the THE YELLOW WALLPAPER, in Act II we meet Hazel, a WWII war bride adjusting to a new life after her husband returns home, played by Mi Y. Kang.

Mi is pleased to appear in THE YELLOW WALLPAPER at Blank Stage Theater and very excited to be working with amazing women on this project. Mi is originally from Texas and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin. She has worked with student theatre groups at UT Austin, participating in productions of THE COUNTRY WIFE, LIFE x3, JULIUS CAESAR, 12 ANGRY MEN, and more. Mi was last seen as Nao in A TALE FOR THE TIME BEING at Book-It Repertory Theatre, and will be playing Sue in NADESHIKO with Sound Theatre Company, coming in April.

Combining the original novella’s text with two new stories, this adaptation of THE YELLOW WALLPAPER reveals how women struggle to be seen, heard, and believed–and at what cost. In Act I, we meet Emma, a 19th century writer experiencing postpartum depression, played by Carolynne Wilcox.

Carolynne is delighted to be in her second Blank Stage piece after understudying and performing in the final weekend of PROOF in 2011. She has produced, performed, written and designed poster artwork throughout the east coast and locally. Last summer, Carolynne was seen as Death in the bilingual production of BLOOD WEDDING in Seattle Parks. She has an MFA in Original Works from Towson University in Baltimore.
