Below is information on the upcoming W7AW Amateur Radio Classes:

Technician class for the entry level FCC Amateur Radio license from Oct. 17 to Nov. 8, 2025. Class size will be limited to 25 for better instructor-student interaction, so applicants should register early online at: https://tinyurl.com/Technician-Class-Fall-2025

General class for the level 2 FCC Amateur Radio license from Nov. 7 to Dec. 14, 2025. Class size will be limited to 25 for better instructor-student interaction, so applicants should register early online at: https://tinyurl.com/General-Class-Fall-2025

Amateur Radio Technician Licensing (level 1) Class

This is an online class. You can review lectures at home on a schedule convenient for you. These will be followed every two days or so with question and answer sessions via Zoom. We will administer an optional in-person test session. The tentative schedule is as follows:

When: Thursday, Oct 16, 7:00 pm Zoom introduction through Thursday Nov 6, 7:00 pm Review session

Saturday, Nov 8, Optional In-person FCC Exam

Where: Technician level classes are conducted online. The in-person exam session will be in West Seattle and mostly likely a Seattle Public Library Branch:

Recommended text: ARRL Ham Radio License Manual, level 1, Technician Class, 5th Edition. Be sure to get the 5th edition, with the July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2026 question pool. This is available from online sellers or directly from the ARRL or it may also be in your library. A Kindle version is available.

Fee: There is no fee for the class. However, there is a $15 fee to take the license exam (which goes to the ARRL). The FCC charges $35 for the license (renewable every 10 years). [For information about $5 fee for exam and license for children under 18 see note at end of this document.]

Class size: Minimum of 8 and maximum of 25
