Women United was founded based on my real life experience of what it means to sacrifice. Removing oneself from your dreams and aspiration for the betterment someone else. Seven of which struggled with substance abuse and addiction. I witnessed the struggles of each of them and the effects it had on our family mainly my mother. Because of this issue my mother became the ultimate caregiver and raise
d many of her grandchildren with no assistance or additional funds to support the need. I gained a huge amount of appreciation and admiration for my mother and began to see her as a hero when I look back at the task she had undertaken due to the love she had for family. In my case it was my two beautiful nieces. These two Small Wonders were accepted into my heart and home without a second thought in 1994. My younger sister who I loved dearly was faced with insurmountable challenges in her life due to substance abuse in which she was unable to overcome. Women United upholds Mark 12:31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these.". No women should stand alone in crisis no matter if she's your sister, neighbor or friend. We strive to provide assistance to our women, our Kinship Caregivers, our sister's who are caring for elderly parents and young adults just beginning the journey of motherhood. Women United individually and collectively have a place to come from beneath the cover and into the light with the struggles we face daily in the life of caregivers. We're able to share the challenges and support one another in our journey. Together we reduce stress in transition, loneliness, unity-family reunification, and personal balance. Women United addresses the need for children to learn play and grow together in a safe secure environment under The Angel of hope play place & Engagement Center. We focus on socials and team building skills, allowing the children and parents alike to distress through play, or simply sit back and experience self-care. Our purpose is to bridge the gap between the parents, caregivers and the children we love. Our goal is to bring back family unity, values, and structure as well as accountability and involvement. We hope to enhance the trust and support between Kinship caregivers and the children of our future. To strengthen the woman that feels like she can't make it another day. Also to stand united with and for one another in times of crisis with respect of our cultural differences. kinship mentoring is provided through the following programs:
