Occupy Gender Equality

Occupy Gender Equality Gender is all kinds, and it's everywhere. Our community of gender is affected especially along lines of color, age, ability, immigration status, etc.

Occupy Gender Equality is a collection of peaceful individuals committed to tearing down the walls of gender-binary/sexist-oppression in its many varying forms. This page is a venue, an outlet, and a resource to guide a better understanding, essentially to connect the dots, about how dirty corporate money directly molds the landscape of our economy--politically, socially, environmentally, etc.--an

d inherently uses group oppression in exchange for capital gain. The gender binary is oppressive in nature, isolates, demonizes and threatens women as well as those who do not conform to traditional patriarchal gender and sexual norms. Language, politics and cultural norms have pitted one group up against one another. These interlocking systems of domination force us to the bottom of every sector including education, labor, social services, and the prison industrial complex. We are entrenched in situations that have limited, or nonexistent, opportunities to prosper economically, socially, and mentally. Enough is enough!! It is time for true equality of women and all genders; for political and economic systems that are truly of, by, and for all people. The revolution of consciousness shifting has only begun. In standing up together, we use our collective power to forge the path to a healthy, productive, and meaningful life filled with love and self-expression among all other members of our human community. Occupy Gender Equality is here to provide you with access to articles, planned activities/events, blog style notes, recommended reading lists and ways YOU can advocate with your body and mind in solidarity with a movement that will create gender equality through a greater vision of what it means to be a human on this planet. The Gender Equality Caucus of Occupy Seattle celebrates people all over the world lifting up their heads in resistance.

Hey Yall we have a few more weeks to raise about $750 more dollars. We were awarded 2 scholarships from the organization to help with out costs. One of our scholarships is for 50% off our hotel room that's $250 dollars less that we have to raise, the other scholarship is a $115 dollar visa gift card we can pick up at the conference and can go towards our travel/food costs. Thanks so much everybody for the support so far. We have just a little more to go. Thanks in advance for helping 6 amazing female bodied people that live in seattle and Olympia get to this empowering conference so we can utilize what we learned through sharing and action in our communitieshttp://www.youcaring.com/other/help-send-some-agitators-to-the-incite-cov4-conference-/307934

This will be an epic movie showing how the current day gender binary locks people into ignorant, oppressive behaviors. Yet indigenous folks greatly embraced and revered those that were two spirit, the third and fourth genders.

Imagine a world that isn't simply divided into male and female. A world where it's safe to be yourself.

**Sign, and SHARE**

Transgendered folks are bullied, harassed and murdered everyday. As Warden, it is your job to protect each and every prisoner to the best of your ability- physically, mentally and/or in case of threat from other inmates.

I stand in solidarity with CeCe, a woman and respected mentor in the trans/q***r youth of color community. The prison system has yet to adequately house folks that are gender non-conforming.Your courage and boldness to make an informed decision about the ramifications that will ensue on CeCe's life due to the location of her sentencing will be a move of complete respect for the person CeCe has identified herself to be.

Keep CeCe McDonald safe while she serves her sentence! Cece McDonald is a transgendered woman of color who is is being held in a men's correctional...

An update on CeCe McDonald's case happening in the midwest, which started last tuesday the 30th of April and is expected to go on for about two weeks. CeCe needs our support.

From CeCe McDonald to Trayvon Martin, the question of whether black victims of violence are supposedly “innocent” is irrelevant. What matters it that black and transgender bodies are often under siege, and sometimes we must fight back.
