The New Baroque Orchestra (NBO) is a community-driven ensemble that is open to instrumentalists of all levels and backgrounds.

With the caring guidance of NBO Director and seasoned performer and teaching artist, Stef Creswell, NBO offers a supportive environment for musicians of all levels to delve into the beauty of Baroque music and the joys of shared ensemble experiences. Amateur and professional musicians are welcome, as are all types of period instruments and modern violins, violas and cellos (as long as your instrument can tune to A = 415). No audition is required.

Remembering Stanley Ritchie (1935–2026), who passed away over the weekend. A recipient of Early Music America's Howard Mayer Brown Award for Lifetime Achievement in Early Music, Stanley came to Seattle in the 1970s, where he immersed himself in baroque performance practice and met his future wife, harpsichordist Elisabeth Wright. The two performed as a duo on Early Music Guild's first concerts and were among EMG's founding group of artists. Stanley and Elisabeth later moved to Indiana University's Early Music Institute, where many of today's Early Music Seattle artists studied with them — including Gus Denhard, Stef Creswell, Ingrid Matthews, Byron Schenkman, Rachell Ellen Wong, and many others.

In 2013, Tomoko Sugawara founded the Eurasia Consort to perform music from the Chinese Tang Court (7th–9th Century) using transcriptions from ethnomusicologists for instruments like her Kugo, or Angular Harp, which those court musicians would have played.
