Please visit open.emolit.org to learn more about how to incorporate this social change endeavor into your own life and work. Emotion Literacy Advocates creates learning forums for insight into emotion through language and the arts. ELA’s unique learning tools incorporate music, theatre, visual art and science for an engagingly approachable way to address cultural and environmental issues with self
and social awareness. ELA is a collaborative organization, bringing together actors, singers, composers, instrumentalists, technicians, editors, painters and illustrators from across the globe to create experiences that reflect, encourage and inspire our shared humanity. ELA follows the guidance of its founder and principal artist Pamela Sackett, who brings a singular synthesis of humor, panache and trauma-informed science smarts to benefit an ever-widening range of participants. Teaching artist, multi-disciplinary writer and producer Pamela Sackett conceived the term “emotion literacy” in 1992 as a way of characterizing the intent of her original creative arts curriculum. Emotion Literacy Advocates (ELA), the 501(c)3 non-profit organization, was founded in January 2001 by a group of devoted artists and activists to support and expand Pamela's reach and to foster partnerships with learning institutions, community organizations, social service agencies, broadcast media and social change educators. www.emolit.org
