Glad to be seeing more child-care drop off being done by bike. A family on a long-tail, another on a box bike and another commuter all biking through 65th and Roosevelt, which both have protected bike lanes. Seen on my bike commute heading South to SLU via University Bridge and Eastlake Ave.

Exciting new poll! Seattle voters overwhelmingly support walking, biking, and cafe streets even when it means removing a lane of traffic or parking!

Also, "Most Seattle voters support restricting cars on some shopping streets, like at Pike Place Market, and on some neighborhood streets"

What's next for Stay Healthy Streets?

"We believe that Stay Healthy Streets should be the new default standard for Neighborhood Greenways. The physical barriers and placemaking being promised are reminiscent of the promises made when the City introduced Neighborhood Greenways."

"These streets should be everywhere...Stay Healthy Streets are most valuable in Seattle’s densest neighborhoods with the least access to outdoor public spaces, and this can only be achieved by expanding outside of the existing network of Neighborhood Greenways, that are mostly in low density neighborhoods."

This week the Seattle City Council unanimously passed an extension of Cafe Streets permits through May 2022!

Cafe streets "add to the quality of our lives, not just the quantity of our parking spaces." They're good for public health, businesses and workers, and our communities.

We have five draft ideas to shape a permanent program:
1) Require Accessibility
2) Ensure safety
3) Encourage collaboration
4) Make the program equitable
5) Go big
