Discover the Small School Difference at Matheia!

At Matheia School, the joy of learning drives everything we do. Our students learn from subject-specialized teachers who bring deep knowledge and genuine excitement to every lesson.
In our small, close-knit community, every child is known, supported, and challenged at just the right level while making friends across grade levels.

Tours for grades K-5 are now open for the 2027–2028 school year! We'd love to meet you and show you what makes Matheia School such a special place to learn and grow.

3…2…1…blast off! The school year is off to an out-of-this-world start! Our theme this year is "Space," and our classes are the Moons, Comets, Asteroids, and Galaxies. We've loved welcoming new families into the Matheia community and seeing returning friends arrive with joy and anticipation for the year ahead. We just know this year is going to be stellar!
One of our first missions this year has been to create colorful rocket art in the style of artist Peter Thorpe. Our young astronauts launched their imaginations into orbit, and the results are cosmic! Here is one shining example from each of our classes.

100th Day Celebration in Math class!
Our K-1 students counted numbers by 10s to make Fruit Loop necklaces.
Then they colored and grouped numbers by 10s to make "100th Day" crowns!

Our K–5 students jumped into a hands-on math project today with our wonderful math teacher Maddy, exploring the idea of radial symmetry — how shapes repeat around a center point, just like a snowflake! Using quilling paper, line art, and careful rotation, the kids experimented with balance, pattern, and mirrored design.

We love seeing our multi-age groups learn side-by-side — older students supporting younger ones, and everyone creating something amazing together. 💙✨

Wonderful work, Matheia K–5 mathematicians!

This week our teachers brewed warm apple c***r for the students, and sent home handmade spice blends and a family recipe so the celebration could continue at home. 🧡
In art class, students created placemats by printing with real fruits and vegetables — turning apples, peppers, broccoli, and carrots into patterns of color and joy.

At Matheia, learning happens through touch, scent, color, curiosity and community.
Gratitude isn’t something we only talk about;
it’s something we create, share, and notice in one another.

As we give thanks, we also hold space for those who may be facing a harder season. Sometimes kindness is the truest form of gratitude.

Wishing everyone and our Matheia families warmth, rest, and connection this Thanksgiving.

Small class sizes. Subject-specialist teachers. Hands-on learning. Art and outdoor play every day. A close, mixed-age school community where students feel known and supported.

Together, these make Matheia a place where children love to learn.

Sharing this a little late, but the joy and connection from our Halloween celebration are too special not to highlight. At Matheia, Halloween is a joyful tradition where students get to showcase their costumes, share creativity, and celebrate together.

This year, our students also visited Merrill Gardens, bringing costumes, conversation, and lots of smiles to the residents.

This wasn’t just a festive outing — it was a hands-on learning moment. Students practiced kindness, communication, and confidence as they shared their work and listened to the residents’ stories.

Moments like this show how learning at Matheia extends beyond the classroom and into the community. 💛
