Youth Maritime Training Association

Youth Maritime Training Association At YMTA our goal is to inspire maritime careers. Whether you are looking for information on how to start a career in the maritime industry or education

YMTA will strive to assure that every interested student from K-12 Washington State schools has the knowledge, guidance and opportunity to pursue a career in the maritime world. Students will be motivated and qualified to apply for entry level positions in the maritime industry or to enroll in post-secondary maritime institutes, community colleges, universities or academies to gain the knowledge and credentials for a career in the maritime trades or professions or marine sciences.

The Youth Maritime Association has always supported the efforts of the Sea Scout programs across the state of Washington. We congratulate the new Quartermaster and the entire Tacoma Sea Scout program.

On Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at 5:00 pm, Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards, Deputy Mayor Conor McCarthy and the Tacoma City Council awarded a City Proclamation to publicly recognize the new Quartermasters from the Tacoma Sea Scout base. This is a special honor the Mayor bestows upon those achieving high accomplishments. According to the City of Tacoma website, “Recognitions are prepared to honor an individual for exceptional personal or civic achievement.”

With less than one percent of Sea Scouts obtaining this achievement nationally, it is an incredible accomplishment. It also shows the level of commitment of our volunteers and families of Sea Scouts.

In attendance: Ezekiel Searles, Jonathan Minch, Isaiah Searles, Daphne Daniel, Skipper Tom Rogers, Daniel Minch, Skipper Bud Bronson, Seth Johnson, Abraham McGee & Executive Director Monique Trudnowski

We are so very proud to have Foss Maritime Company as a supporter. They have been with us since the beginning in 1996. Over the years hundreds of local students have found pathways into the Maritime Industry. Foss' support has provided scholarships for many students attending maritime academies and trade schools.

Foss is proud to partner with our friends at the Youth Maritime Training Association. The YMTA shares Foss materials at high school "trades fairs" to help educate students about the many opportunities in the maritime industry.
