Pride has never been about rainbow logos, corporate sponsorships, or a single month on the calendar.
Pride began as resistance.
It was born from Black and Brown trans women, q***r people, s*x workers, and community members who refused to accept a future defined by criminalization, violence, and exclusion. They organized, protested, cared for one another, and imagined something bigger than survival.
That imagination became a movement.
Today, Pride is still an invitation to ask: What kind of future are we building together?
At Lavender Rights Project, we know the future does not simply arrive. It is created. Through housing justice, policy transformation, community care, narrative power, and collective action, we are building a future where Black trans and gender-diverse people can not only survive, but live and thrive.
This month, we launch The Future We Create.
A celebration of our past, a commitment to our present, and a declaration that the future belongs to those bold enough to imagine it and courageous enough to build it.
Because Pride has always been about more than visibility.
It has always been about creating the world we deserve.
