The KCNA Board gathered this past weekend to review the 2026–2027 year! Programs were a big part of the conversation, with updates coming to MentorLink, professional development and scholarships.

Executive Director Jennifer Bravo led a thoughtful “Remembering Your Why” exercise, inviting each board member to reflect on what inspires them to be part of KCNA. One shared purpose stood out: supporting our local nursing community.

What happens when caring for trauma follows the emergency nurse home?

A new study in the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal explores the lived experience of secondary traumatic stress among emergency department nurses and how it affects work, relationships, life outside the hospital, and coping.

The findings have important implications for nurse well-being, workforce retention, debriefing, orientation, and future research.
