On Women’s Equality Day, we honor the trailblazers who fought for progress and the strong women who continue to lead the way.

We’re especially proud of the incredible women on our Committee for Children team, whose dedication to helping kids thrive inspires us every day.
Together, we’re working toward an equitable future for the girls of today and the leaders of tomorrow!

On World Humanitarian Day, we recognize and celebrate those who dedicate their lives to helping others and creating a better world.

At Committee for Children, we believe building human skills like empathy, collaboration, and kindness helps empower the next generation to carry that spirit forward.

Here’s to raising future leaders who will make a difference—at home, in their communities, and beyond!

When we teach children that even the smallest gestures—sharing a smile, helping a friend, including someone new—can make a difference for someone, we empower them to build more compassionate classrooms and communities.

Let’s nurture kindness every day, one act at a time.

North Carolina's new HB 959 mandates social media literacy instruction in schools, focusing on its health impacts, misinformation, and online safety. This significant legislation highlights the crucial role of developing "human skills" like critical thinking and responsible decision-making.

The goal is to empower students to navigate the digital world effectively, fostering healthier relationships with technology.

We're interested to hear: Do you teach your children about social media literacy at home? Let us know below!

We understand how difficult it is when your child is dealing with bullying, and sometimes, they might not even tell you what's happening.

Here are a few actionable ways you can support your child:
• Talk and listen openly: Create a safe space for your child to share what they're going through, and truly listen to their experiences.

• Be empathetic and reassuring: Let them know it's not their fault and that you're there to help them every step of the way.

• Guide their responses: Help them understand what actions might make the situation worse and encourage constructive ways to handle it.

• Be persistent: Bullying is a complex issue, and it often requires ongoing effort to resolve. Stick with them and continue to advocate on their behalf.

• Engage with their school or organization: Communicate with the adults in charge where the bullying is happening and follow up consistently until appropriate action is taken.

Bullying is never okay, and while it's a difficult challenge, we hope these tips help you and your child navigate it more effectively.

“Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” —Maya Angelou 🌈

This quote is a beautiful way to help children visualize what kindness can look like: brightening someone’s day even when skies are gray.

Teaching kindness doesn’t have to be complicated—sometimes, it starts with a simple image!

Last week, we shared Mind Yeti sessions, a mindfulness resource we created to help kids (and the adults around them) find calm, focus, and connection.

Now, we’d love to hear from you: How do you practice mindfulness with the children in your life?

Whether it’s a quiet moment before school, a breathing game at bedtime, or a mindful walk, share your ideas below.

Let’s learn from one another and create a little more calm, together.

The world feels especially loud right now, and kids are feeling it, too.

That's why we created research-based Mind Yeti mindfulness sessions, now part of the Second Step K-8 Digital programs, to help kids (and the adults around them) find calm, connection, and emotional resilience in uncertain times.

Through guided audio and immersive soundscapes, kids can build habits of focus, gratitude, and kindness—one mindful moment at a time.

Try a session at https://www.youtube.com//playlists and let us know how it goes!

Show kids how to stand up against bullying!

Share this video with your children or students to teach them simple steps to help if they witness bullying—like not joining in, offering support, speaking up, and reporting it.

Remember, small actions make a big difference.
