Lake City Seniors

Lake City Seniors is a program of Sound Generations that connects older adults to activities, services, and low-cost programs.

This project is a direct result of the commitment and activism of many community members who saw that there was a need for more services for our diverse senior population and made their voices heard. The City of Seattle Human Services Department provides the funding to make this project possible. In addition, many community partners and volunteers are investing their energy, creativity and hard wo

rk in order to offer more services and opportunities for seniors in Lake City. Most of the new activities and programs that we are introducing are offered at the Lake City Community Center, which is owned by City of Seattle Parks and Recreation and leased to the North Seattle Chamber of Commerce for the benefit of the community. Our Seniors had a blast marching in the Lake City Festival & Parade this past Saturday. Syl- our wonderful multitalented social worker led us through the parade with music and candy! Can’t wait till next year! 🥁🎶🤍

We enjoyed having Ricky from local startup Peferd demonstrate a prototype of a simplified smartphone intended to be more accessible for older adults this last Friday! Always adore having guest presenters!

Welcoming the beautiful weather with May Flowers with Amariah! Our program coordinators monthly programming this month was how to make bouquets with the lovely flowers that are in season! What a great turnout and pretty thing to do today:)

Latin Dance Fitness with some extra guests last week! Here at Lake City Seniors we have been working on intergenerational connection! brought some of their students over to see how our Senior Center works and operates. They were able to not only join some of our classes, but also meet some of our long standing volunteers and learn what it is like to not just help our Senior Community, but also be apart of it. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!
