Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day 2024, we're pleased to introduce our new training course, Fundamentals of Community-Based Su***de Prevention, developed in partnership with Washington State Department of Health.
This seven-part training course provides a roadmap and outlines strategies for implementing a comprehensive approach to su***de prevention, in alignment with the new 2024 National Strategy for Su***de Prevention. We hope it helps those who participate in community-based su***de prevention understand how to engage with this important work.
The course is free and available to stream on demand. The seven sessions comprise a comprehensive curriculum, but can also work as stand-alone trainings, covering the following topics:
1. Introduction: Characteristics of Su***de and Challenges in Prevention
2. Overview of Su***de Prevention: The Public Health Approach and Comprehensive Programming
3. Messaging and Communications: Framework for Successful Messaging
4. Connectedness in Su***de Prevention
5. Recognition and Referral: Gatekeeper Role in Su***de Prevention
6. Lethal Means Safety: Fi****ms and Su***de Risk
7. Health Care Settings: Su***de Care and the Zero Su***de Framework
Up to 7 CEUs (Continuing Education Credits) will be available for Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, and Licensed Mental Health Counselors.
