The Northwestern Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society

The Northwestern Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society We are a chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society (NARGS). We welcome anyone who shares our interest, from novice to expert.

We are gardening enthusiasts sharing a common interest in studying and growing plants suitable for rock gardens. The Northwestern Chapter of the North American Rock Garden Society (NWNARGS) is a society of plant enthusiasts located in the Seattle metro area. Our members come not only from the greater Seattle area but also from all parts of Washington State and northern Oregon State. We welcome mem

bers and visitors at all levels of gardening experience – from garden beginners to professional growers. The plants we study include alpine plants, bulbs, small hardy plants, woodland plants, shrubs and trees, and even desert plants like cacti and succulents. NWNARGS meets nine times a year in Seattle or Bellevue. Meetings feature illustrated presentations by local, national and international experts; plant cultivation tips and demonstrations; and information about local growing conditions and plant resources. We sponsor two plant sales a year, annual garden tours, and wide-ranging field trips to explore plants in their wild habitat.

Several of our members attended the North American Rock Garden Society Annual General Meeting in Cheyenne, Wyoming this weekend. There were some amazing private, public and natural gardens seen. A huge thanks to the local Cheyenne Chapter for hosting, all the volunteers and gardeners who opened their home gardens and freely shared their knowledge!
