Hello! Welcome to our Powder Horn 2024!

We are so excited to see you all in August! You are going to learn about quite a few different types of high-adventure activities. We hope you will have an excellent time adventuring at Powder Horn, taking these experiences home to your units and scouts!
You have some homework items that must be done before we can begin!
• For Adults (18 years and older by course) confirm that your Youth Protection Training is up-to-date.
• Youth need to have completed the unit’s version of leadership training (Intro to Leadership Skills for Troops, Ships, or Crews). Previous attendance at National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is strongly recommended for youth participants.
• Adults must be trained for their current registered position.
• Complete your online Safety training through your https://my.scouting.org account, prior to Powder Horn. All participants must complete the following: Youth Protection, Hazardous Weather, Safety Afloat, Safe Swim Defense, and Climb on Safely. Due to time constraints, a makeup course will not be offered at Powder Horn.
Also, before you come to Powder Horn complete steps 1-5 of the Outdoor Ethics Awareness and Action Awards Program. Step 6 will be done at Powder Horn.
1. Review The Outdoor Ethics Awareness and Action Awards Program. Print page 7 - OE Application
2. Recite from memory and explain the meaning of the Outdoor Code. Send a video or be prepared to present at Powder Horn.
3. Watch the National Park Service Leave No Trace video. Write two things you have learned while watching the video.
4. Complete the Leave No Trace online course. Print the certificate.
5. Complete the Tread Lightly! online course. Print the certificate.
6. Participate in an outdoor ethics course, workshop, or training activity facilitated by a person who has completed the BSA outdoor ethics orientation course or is a BSA outdoor ethics trainer or master. This will be completed at Powder Horn.

Bring your paperwork to Powder Horn. The final step (6) will be completed during the Powder Horn Course. At the end of the Powder Horn course, you can leave with a Certificate for the Outdoor Ethics Awareness Award. This is an excellent award to have in your Scouting toolbox!

We will not be in cabins for the course and we will not have overnight power. Please come prepared. Those with medical overnight electrical needs, please take extra note of this as the camp generators are turned off at night.
