-Remembering Rachel-

With heavy hearts, we honor the passing of Sister Rachel Thomson. Rachel was a friend, colleague, and strong union member. After years of decorating sets and running union crews, she recently served as the Assistant Business Agent for Local 488, representing the Seattle theater workers. She is deeply missed by family, friends, and her union kin. When we asked Rachel how we could help her, she said, “Donate blood!” She had been a regular blood donor most of her life, so to honor her memory we have organized a virtual blood drive to help fill the gap her passing has left. Please share this! And take a moment to reach out to your loved ones. Life is precious and far too short. Rest in Power, Rachel! Love from your siblings at IATSE Local 488.

The box office workers at the Village Theater have won their vote to unionize, and have chosen Local 15 as their representative. Congratulations! We welcome you to the IATSE family!

After working under an expired contract for over a year, the day has finally come for Encore in-house technicians here in the Seattle area. At last night's monthly membership meeting, the body voted to ratify the agreement reached between Encore Global and IATSE Local 15. There are many important changes that will improve the lives of the in-house technicians that make Encore's events happen.

The Village Theater Box Office workers have asked Local 15 to be their representative, with a full majority pledging to vote UNION YES! The stagehands in back of house already work under an IATSE contract, and we want to be clear that we recognize the value and hard work of all front of house workers. We stand behind all workers who wish to exercise their right to form a union, and employers should respect that right as well.
