Friends of the Southwest Queen Anne Greenbelt

Friends of the Southwest Queen Anne Greenbelt A community effort to reforest Queen Anne's South West Green Belt Seattle’s green spaces are part of local culture and identity.

With gracious help from volunteers and neighbors, and with guidance from native plant steward Howard Langeveld, the West Queen Anne Greenbelt is receiving some much needed attention. Projects include invasive plant removal, reintroduction of native plant species, and extension of Kinnear Park trails. If you would like to get involved, like this page to receive event updates or visit http://cedar.greencitypartnerships.org/gsp/event/map/

We are still around. This year we have been also working at the sw corner of Discovery Park. It gets hot and dry this time of year and want to leave native plant areas to the native critters for raising there young. We will be active again in September.

One of the greenbelts neighbors took some pictures about a week ago. Check it out.

I did a berry identification walk with a meet up group yesterday . We found about 8 or 9 in the restoration site by W. Blaine and 12th W. Some berries though edible are not very tasty without further processing. Green belt berries should be left for wildlife except for some research sampling. :-)
Some of these photos have nothing to do with the greenbelt.

We were out there again on the 17th. Our next non event will be on the 24th. Let me know if you would like to join us.

We have had a few more non events at the green belt. These are some pictures from Good Friday. There is morning glory and other weeds to remove for all. If you want a workout I have lots of mulch to move. Let me know if you are interested in joining us. We have fun and keep our numbers down. Howard
