This week Distinguished Brian T. Lally encouraged us to slow down and appreciate the floral beauty ever-present in summertime with his aptly titled meeting theme, "Stop and Smell the Roses." Also, Stephen Phillips delivered his Icebreaker speech in an encore performance, and our new officer team was officially and ceremoniously installed!

John Edgerly took a cue from Seattle's record-high temperatures of late and selected "Heat Wave" as Monday's meeting theme. Also, new member Stephen Phillips delivered his Icebreaker speech, and Bill Forristall won the Best Speech award for explaining that he retreats to the snow-covered mountains when the summer heat gets too intense.

"The Ocean's Healing Power" was presented as today's meeting theme when Gwen Whipple acted as our ; Raj Sundar brought his experience delivering babies to bear with a speech called "'The Delivery: The Journey of One Baby," and one of our newest members, Stephen Phillips, won the Best Speech ribbon for explaining why he would choose the healing powers of the ocean over the mountains.

Today Bill Forristall reminded us of the inevitability of "Waiting" when he served as our toastmaster and made it the meeting theme; Brian T. Lally made an excellent case for reforming our tax system with an editorial entitled "Simplify the Tax Code," and Table Topics Master Gwen Whipple led our impromptu speaking session with questions about summer activities.

Feeling inspired by last week's sunny weather, Brian T. Lally brought the theme "Summer Sun" to yesterday's meeting in his capacity as toastmaster. Gwen Whipple talked about her love of car racing with a speech called "Playing in the Dirt," and John Edgerly won the award for the Best Speech after explaining when his summer "officially" begins.

In our last meeting Sang Hee Kim served as our under the theme "Commuting," Nelson Pesigan gave a speech about a hypothetical Mars landing, and Raj Sundar won the Best Speech ribbon. Also, City Toasters elected new club officers: Gwen Whipple, President; Bill Forristall, V.P. Education; Sang Hee Kim, Secretary; Brian T. Lally, Treasurer; and Nelson Pesigan, Sergeant-at-Arms. Their terms of office begin July 1st. Congratulations new officers!

In yesterday's meeting Nelson Pesigan returned to the virtual podium in an encore performance as our with another food-inspired theme: National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day! Bill Forristall delivered a speech on the benefits and shortcomings of routines and how to incorporate or eliminate them from life, and Brian T. Lally simulated a cooking demonstration to win the Best Speech ribbon.
