Seattle Tilth, Tilth Producers and Cascade Harvest Coalition merged in 2016 -- now we are a new organization called Tilth Alliance! Our mission is to build an ecologically sound, economically viable and socially equitable food system.

Something special happens when people come together around a piece of land. 🌱

Meet Anita, who manages and cares for our learning garden at McAuliffe Park in Kirkland, along with volunteers Lilah, Sunanda, and Sloane!

McAuliffe has become a thriving learning garden and urban forest – a place where people grow food, restore habitat, share knowledge and culture, and learn from each other. Over the past few years, our community has come together for more than 100 volunteer work parties there, contributing over 5,500 hours of collective care.

Thanks to the many community partners who have helped make the learning garden at McAuliffe Park what it is today: KirklandGov, , , , , and more.

You've mastered growing tomatoes and your favorite greens. Now imagine a garden that keeps giving year after year: berries, herbs, fruit trees and other perennial veggies that come back on their own!

That's what we'll be exploring in "Growing Fruit & Perennial Edibles." It's a three-day course that's a great next step up from annual gardening – and you don't have to be an expert to join!

The Joy of Fermentation begins this Saturday! 🥬✨

Join us over three Saturdays at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands to taste, smell and make fermented foods together. We'll dig into the science, honor the cultural roots of these foods, and leave with take-home projects. You'll explore kimchi, yogurt, sourdough, kombucha and more. No experience necessary, just bring your curiosity!

Soil & Water Stewards have been busy this season! Stewards have worked hard repairing tools 🛠️ installing rain barrels 💦 building propagation beds 🌱 turning compost 🪱 installing drip irrigation systems, and more!

The work done this summer will support propagation of native plants, pollinator plants, berry bushes and fruit trees that will be distributed throughout the community for years to come. 🌱 🫐 🪻

We want to celebrate our amazing volunteers!

Join us on Friday, October 9 at the Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford or on Saturday, October 17 at Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands for a community lunch in appreciation of our volunteers!

Thank you for all the hard work 💪 you put in throughout the seasons to garden, run events, spruce up our community spaces, pack food for distribution, assist classes, teach about food waste, restore wetland areas, and more. Join regular work parties at 10 am, then stay to eat, drink, and celebrate yourselves - or just come for lunch! All are welcome, whether it is your first time volunteering or your 500th!
