Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation CERF Advancing the understanding and wise stewardship of estuarine and coastal ecosystems worldwide. Publishers of the journal Estuaries and Coasts.

CERF’s mission is to advance research, knowledge, and stewardship of coasts and estuaries and sustain the education and professional development of a diverse and inclusive community. CERF is a private, non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to advancing the understanding and wise stewardship of estuarine and coastal ecosystems worldwide. The Federation was created in 1971, when the member

s of two older, regionally-based estuarine research societies (AERS and NEERS) decided that a national organization was needed to address estuarine and coastal issues more broadly. The regionally based Affiliate Societies now number eight and encompass all of the coastal regions of North America and the Caribbean. Posts are for the benefit of our members and interested parties and do not imply endorsement.

📢 Action Alert - Submit Comments by July 13

The US government is proposing changes to a rule that lays out requirements for all federal grants; these changes would fundamentally reshape how science is conducted in the US. They would shift grant decisions away from merit-based peer review to political priorities, allow awards to be terminated without cause, and severely restrict or prohibit international collaboration, DEI activities, conference travel, and publication costs. We have joined the American Physical Society efforts to fight back, and we encourage CERF members to use the APS web form to submit public comments: https://www.aps.org/initiatives/advocate-amplify/policy/federal-grants-rule-change
