What does GPHB mean to you?
"GPHB was an incredible opportunity to experience another country, build lasting relationships, serve others, and grow as a person. I was originally drawn to GPHB because I wanted to gain experience in Public Health while also traveling and helping others, but after going on the Brigade I realized I received so much more from the experience. For me, GPHB is about love beyond borders and the power of a small group of people who realize they can't save the world but try to make a positive difference anyways."

What is one thing that you miss the most from the brigade?
"I miss everything about the Brigade! I miss the feeling of excitement in being in another country and experiencing a new culture. I miss playing hide and seek with the kids and learning Spanish from the masons. I miss nights at the compound after a long days of work just hanging out playing cards or soccer and bonding as a group. Most of all, I miss all the incredible people we met and worked with who made the experience unforgettable and worthwhile.

It's Thursday!! And, it's our 7th of the series. We were fortunate enough to have an amazing home base and wonderful staff at the facility. El Censo lodging facility had a beautiful view of green pastures, sugar cane fields, and distant mountains. It even had a soccer field and a volleyball court!

What is one thing that you miss the most from the brigade?
--
"I miss playing soccer with the kids in the community on dirt soccer fields, dancing with community health workers during lunch breaks, conversing and laughing with families and organizers despite the language barrier, and embracing the beautiful scenery while working. So, I miss everything about the brigade!"

It's the 6th !
This features community health workers. On the brigade, we got to see the impact that community health workers made on their community. We shadowed them as they checked in with patients at home visits, measured glucose levels, and took blood pressure.
