Lola came to us after being at our managed feral colony, we trapped, fixed/ear tipped her well over 5 years ago. She disappeared two years ago during a heat wave for three weeks, when she returned she was deathly ill. She was so sick in fact we were able to easily pick her up and place her into a carrier. She had endured massive weight loss was anemic and she was filthy with sores (we don’t know what happened to her), we do know we couldn’t place her back outside. So we brought her into the foundation where she fit in easily with previous colony cats and bonded brother and sister (Leo & Katie). She isn’t always nice and sometimes (if she feels you worthy enough), she will stretch out her paw to lightly tap you or offer a soft meow but that’s it. Over the years we’ve learned how to manage and keep semi feral cats happy and healthy here for the remainder of their lives. She will never have to worry about surviving on the streets, the past year we trapped the three remaining senior girls (Grandma, Sookie and Mitten’s), we have one cat remaining that is a long haired black cat (she was also ear tipped), we still offer food and water daily and we see her regularly (she appears very healthy). We don’t plan on removing her unless something changes.

We know lots of groups and people don’t feel semi feral cats can do well inside (we are here to tell you they can), it takes a tremendous amount of work and figuring out what each one needs and integrations done properly. It can be done, patience is always what wins in the end, some become very good with humans and become beloved family members (some will always stay with us as permanent senior foundation cats). Grandma is a testament that the whole time she was in the streets (10+ years she in the end was a cat who craved human touch and love).

Thankful post! From our Chewy “wishlist” -it’s so heartwarming to find an unexpected box outside your front door. Thank you Christine P., for your thoughtful and kind donation to our senior dogs and kitties too! We love the heated 😺 pads, and cat scratchers are always needed, then there is the faux fur blanket (one of Doris Days favorites) 🐶 and a small roller ball (perfect for Luna and Boomer) to tussle/play with🤣. We will make sure to post some stories of the way these items will help enrich and keep the foundation dogs/cats comfortable and engaged in play or sleep in DD’s case.

We are grateful to each follower and that you’ve all chosen to support a PNW senior dog/cat nonprofit. This number represents our page only and It’s taken many years to reach this milestone (all genuine followers and not bought). We appreciate each and everyone of you,(more than you could possibly know). Please keep sharing us, our posts and most of all reach out if you have any questions about what we do!

Let’s keep focused on the most vulnerable animals that so desperately count on nonprofits to be able to rescue them and offer them loving forever homes. We are passionate about our mission, we will keep fighting for them, thank you for seeing us and joining in the movement.

Introducing Blu!

Blu has been medically cleared and is available through our foster-to-adopt program.

Blu is a 4 year old neutered male who has all his vaccines, blood panel and combo tested (negative).

Blu came to us August 20th, he’d reportedly been out with another cat at a local business since January. Sadly, the other cat went missing, and Blu decided to travel several blocks to yet another business. He was taking up residence under the company van, on a very busy street. We went out to meet with one of the employees (Karen) who showed us where he was hiding. We set a trap and drove back and forth all day, with many changes of food (sardines and chicken McNuggets finally lured him in). Blu was covered in fleas/ants and so many scabs on his skin, greasy fur and very malnourished. Blu however had/has a microchip, we immediately took him to our primary vet for hydration and a brief once over, panacur/capstar and topical flea medication. We contacted the chip company and we left a few voice mails for the registered owner, and they too reached out to the owner a few times without reply. We do know he was adopted from a local shelter as a kitten. We do not know how he found himself as a stray and we wish his cat friend hadn’t disappeared and we were able to also help him/her. It’s taken this whole time to transform his coat into the glossy and soft fur that he now has, scabs have been gently removed, his ears have been cleaned, he’s also now at a healthy 10 #’s.

Blu had his true intake appointment last week, he was sweet and non reactive. We are still working on socialization with other cats, we will discuss this with potential adopters. He is still very flighty, he wants to go back outside when he sees a window or door (he needs to remain as an indoor only cat) he’d love a catio set up so he can travel in and out securely. He’s highly food motivated and we feel due to his food insecurities while surviving on the streets he may have this for the remainder of his life.

We want to thank Karen and our dear friends with The Summit Group, together they both donated towards his much needed medical care.

Remembering Josie🌈

The sweetest girl left her earthly body on August 16th, after a sudden medical event, in her home with her beloved family by her side. Her brother Henry passed only a few months prior, Josie was such a kind companion for Henry who had lost his lifelong friend the year prior, she was full of joy, she loved everyone she met and she was loved by everyone.

Josie came into our rescue in December of 2023, when her owner passed away, and was surrendered to the shelter. She was not use to shelter life & not doing well, we were asked if we could help her by a wonderful local rescue, and we didn’t hesitate. She was transported through their volunteer who fell hard for her, we immediately understood why. Once available for adoption, Josie’s family raised their hands up high, loading up their daughter and Henry, drove to Seattle from Spokane to meet her & they never looked back, officially adopting her shortly thereafter.

Her family (The VavRosky’s) shared that Josie loved long hikes, walks no matter the distance, their daughter, cuddles with anyone, especially her fur friends, all treats, and they’ll miss her toe tapping and breakfast dancing. She also made quick friends with the resident cats (Jack & Jasper). We don’t know why Josie was only given a few years with such a wonderful family who adored her. What we do know is her previous owner took immaculate care of Josie her medical records were proof of this and chart notes that echoed the love he had for her. Maybe she was only here for a short time to help comfort Henry and share joy, and as much as she loved her family- she missed her dad.

Josie made those years count, providing comfort/companionship, creating many memories (while soaking up and pouring out all the love she could). Josie you are greatly missed, we know how much you meant to your family and they miss you something awful. We hope you are all cuddled up in a soft bed with lots of blankets, with those whom are familiar to you in heaven. We were all blessed to have known you and grateful your life didn’t end in the shelter. Shine on sweet girl🕊️✨

Welcome Tigger (shelter name Tiger). We couldn’t stand by and watch another wonderful dog lose his life. We reached out to so many rescues, sadly none had room, the funds, or foster homes that could take him. We literally sent a last minute text (Hail Mary) to our friend Heidi with Rebel Souls Rescue creating a solid plan within minutes. Heidi was emailing with the shelter (sending documents they requested) late Friday, (which saved his life).

We can’t say enough about this magical dog, he’s bomb proof -he came into the shelter with a small male Frenchie with medical, he was either adopted or rescued pretty immediately. Here’s the plan we put into place- Charlie’s Foundation will sponsor all his medical care, and we are pretty certain he will have a lot. He’s currently on medication for a URI which we made the joint decision to place him into a private home/boarding for him to finish his course of treatment before even thinking about transport. His transport will be private too as he’s a massive dog that doesn’t deserve to sit in a crate for an extended period of time. Heidi will welcome Tigger to her location in a few weeks, where he will decompress, she can assess him properly and offer insight into what he will need to be successful in a forever home. We also will be sending a 🧬 test her way.

We will have a separate post once he’s had his full medical intake appointment, a clear plan for all his medical care and recommendations. As you can see from his video- his back and backend are hunched and painful. We strongly feel he’s older than 5.

This is responsible rescue, working together and with a solid plan for a dog that deserves so much love, he wasn’t treasured by whomever had him and his Frenchie friend, the years of neglect of both were apparent. 9/12-Corkie the Yorkie is still missing! Please share her flyer! If you are local to SeaTac we could use help hanging more flyers!

Important-If you see her-do not chase or call out to her! Call the phone number immediately, keep her in your sight-or where you last saw her!

PSA to the local “trappers” that have not even returned a text, call or voicemail to my neighbor who has been missing her tiny senior Yorkie for 5 days now, shame on you!

To my dear friend Mike with CatchingPaws who is located in CA who stopped everything to speak with my neighbor (created a better flyer for her), spoke with her in a kind and calming manner and explained the do’s and do nots and continues to be a source of strength and available to her at anytime (you are the true GOAT). I/We will never share or support the two people my neighbor reached out to (it seems they pick and choose who they help). She’s a 5 # senior Yorkie!🤬.

Please keep sharing she was lost in SeaTac on Tuesday at 6am from her home when a yard gate was somehow left open, (Corkie was her moms dog and the owner is devastated) off of 166th and 37th (close to the Safeway). She’s posted on Nextdoor, Lost Dogs of King County, with the local shelters and flyers are Everywhere!
