Ukrainian Association of Washington State UAWS is a volunteer-based 501(c)3 nonprofit promoting culture, advocacy, and humanitarian aid. 🇺🇦💙

The Ukrainian Association of Washington State (UAWS) was founded in 1971 by Ukrainian immigrants with the goal of promoting Ukrainian culture in the Pacific Northwest, advocating for Ukraine, and educating communities about the hardships endured under Soviet occupation. Since 2014, UAWS has been actively involved in providing vital humanitarian aid to Ukraine in response to the ongoing war and bru

tal invasion. In light of the full-scale Russian aggression, we established a humanitarian hub and have assisted Ukrainians affected by the war within and abroad through various humanitarian initiatives. During peaceful times, we at UAWS are active in organizing various cultural and artistic activities as well as patriotic gatherings. Some of our regular activities include but are not limited to:
• Celebrating Ukrainian Day of Independence and honoring our national bard, Taras Shevchenko, through annual events.
• Supporting the Fund to Endow a Chair of Ukrainian Studies at the University of Washington.
• Performing through our Ukrainian Dance Ensemble Barvinok and Serpanok chorus.
• Organizing educational, creative workshops, including career development sessions, cultural panels & discussions, and art sessions.
