Today is our Founder Danny Thomas’ birthday, who was born Jan. 6, 1912. Danny considered founding St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital his most important accomplishment.

“If I were to die tomorrow,” he proclaimed at the opening of St. Jude in 1962, “I would know why I was born.” Upon his death 29 years later, Danny Thomas left behind an indelible imprint on humankind, having touched the hearts of people from around the world with his steadfast conviction that “no child should die in the dawn of life.”
