Today is International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day, a day to raise awareness and support for children and adolescents with cancer and their families. More than 400,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer each year, and many of them lack access to adequate diagnosis, treatment and care. Childhood cancer is a global challenge that requires global solidarity and action.

As we mark this day, let us remember the courage and resilience of the young cancer warriors and survivors, and the dedication and compassion of the health workers, researchers and advocates who are working to improve their lives. Let us also honor the memory of children like Imke from South Africa who have passed away from childhood cancer, and the grief and loss of their loved ones.

We can all play a role in supporting the fight against childhood cancer, by raising awareness, donating to research, volunteering for organizations, or simply showing kindness and empathy to those affected. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for the children of the world.
