TONIGHT!!!

The Seattle Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners will hold a special meeting July 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miller Community Center, 330 19th Ave. E., to consider Seattle Public Schools' proposal for a new Lincoln High School athletic field at Lower Woodland Park.

SPS is recommending a full-size, multi-sport field at N. 50th Street and Aurora Avenue N. – the concept previously presented as Option B – along with a renovation of the track at Lower Woodland Field #7. The district is asking the board to approve moving the project into environmental review.

At least 79 healthy trees will be removed from Woodland Park as part of the proposed Lincoln High School football field. You can give public comment on this issue via email or at the Seattle Parks Board meeting on Thursday, July 23 at 6pm at Miller Community Center (and on zoom). Camp families! Information on this year's aftercare program should have reached you by email, but here is the flyer again in case you missed it! Please note that this is offered by Troop 46994 and not Woodland Park Day Camp itself. We will coordinate to get campers to aftercare, but all questions about that program should go to the contact for that troop as listed below.

There's still time to provide feedback via an online form. Two of the three proposals have the potential to impact our traditional camp location in terms of construction and loss of parking.

Seattle Public Schools staff presented three options for an athletic field, instead of two, reviving an old plan that had previously been cut from consideration.

Fremont neighbors: A new sports field is coming to Lower Woodland Park, and there are two very different options on the table. If you have a kiddo going to Lincoln (current or future), walk, run, bike, or play at the park, this one's for you.

There's a community meeting Saturday where you can learn about both plans and weigh in.
