SAMHSA calls for end to conversion therapy nationwide! This new, comprehensive report provides an in-depth review of research and concludes that "variations in sexual orientation and gender identity are normal, and that conversion therapies or other efforts to change sexual orientation or gender identity are not effective, are harmful, and are not appropriate therapeutic practices." Students belong in school, not prison. LGBTQ students and students of color are disciplined more often and more harshly than their peers. Those with intersectional identities, such as Black transgender youth or gay undocumented youth, are at even greater risk. Please read this important report addressing disparities in school discipline along lines of race, gender and sexual orientation. Let's end the school to prison pipeline!
