Local hospitals need all eligible community members to assist in building up the blood supply for the busy holiday season. The community blood forecast shows a high need for donors to book appointments now through November. Thank you so much to the 166 Huskies that has committed to donating blood between now and at the end of Fall quarter. Reminder: you can donate blood ten days after COVID symptoms resolve and COVID, Flu, and RSV vaccinations and boosters do not require a waiting period before donating. Same-day appointments are available at most locations.

The University of Washington campus will play host to a Pop-Up Donor Center and provide a lifeline for local patients.

Sadly, this is the time of year when car crashes increase, generating traumas where patients require substantial amounts of blood. The summer blood shortage is impacting several blood types, including Type O, the universal blood type critical in traumas, and when a patient’s blood type is unknown. Our community needs 5,500 more people to sign up to give blood in the next 10 days to keep up with the transfusion needs of local hospitals. Donors are encouraged to book appointments to give blood as soon as possible to ensure doctors can access the lifesaving blood needed for their patients. Same-day appointments are available at most locations. We will be at the Burke Museum today (7/17) and 7/25, as well as the UW Police Department on 7/19! Huskies, it's been a long time since we've seen you! Last academic year has been a whirlwind but hopefully everything will go back to normal this Fall. Despite of all the changes, one thing that stays the same is that blood is always needed.

We will be at the Hillel this July (20th, 21st, 26th & 27th) and currently, we still have 76 open timeslots that needs to be filled.
