Summer is coming to an end, and school will soon be back in session. Every year at this time, Seattle Council Pioneers gear up to provide brand new backpacks to a special organization – Treehouse. Started in 1988, Treehouse is the only nonprofit in Washington state focused on the specific educational, material, and financial needs of youth in foster care. Seattle Council has been supporting Treehouse for the last 20 years.
This year, with the help of MacKenzie Funds and contributions from our loyal members, we were able to donate 288 brand new backpacks to Treehouse. The backpacks were delivered on August 8th – just in time for the start of school. That means 288 foster children will have a brand-new backpack for the first day of school.
