Great job to our volunteers who took time out of their busy Saturday to volunteer at Food Lifeline. We worked with Penne pasta this time. We broke it down into 2lb sacks and put 15 of those in a box. We processed 1,410 pounds of pasta which will go to food banks. Thank you!

Summer is almost over and school starts soon! That means it's time for our annual delivery of backpacks to Treehouse. This year we donated 240 brand new backpacks and 72 letter-sized writing pads. That means 240 foster children in the state of Washington will have a new backpack for the first day of school! Thank-you to Bruce, our volunteer project lead for ordering and delivering the backpacks and writing pads along with his assistant Marian.

Thank you to the Legacy West Pioneers who purchased pet supplies in memory of Larry O. Henricks. Sandy and Marion, AVHS cat care volunteers and fosters, presented the supplies. The animals are so excited to have more food, soft blankets and treats to help with growing strong, healthy and thriving until adoption. Come visit the shelter for adorable adoptable animals!

Thank you to the folks at Legacy West Pioneers - Seattle Council for your continued support of Homeward Pet.

Every year they glance through our Wishlist and then place a large Amazon order in support of the animals in our care. This year they also outfitted all of our cats with several new scratchers each courtesy of Stretch and Scratch.

If you are interested in checking out our wish lists, you can see them here >>> https://www.homewardpet.org/updated-donations-policy/

It's fall and the kiddos are back in school. Must be time for Seattle Council's annual project in support of Treehouse a non-profit that supports youth in foster care in Washington state. This year, using money donated by our members, we purchased 216 new backpacks. Brand new this year - we teamed with Merit Financial Advisors to donate 8 bicycles. The Merit folks purchased the bikes and put them together (no easy task!). THANK-YOU MERIT FINANCIAL ADVISORS!!!!

The bikes and backpacks were delivered to Treehouse on 9/27/24. They will be available for the kids in the special Treehouse Store. Thank-you to all who donate time and dollars to Pioneers!

Taking this opportunity to brag about our Seattle Council member Jennifer Moore. She is still working for "the phone company". Lumen submitted Jennifer to receive a Presidential Volunteer Service Award from the US Government for all the volunteering she does. She was one of 36 others who also got recognized with a certificate, a letter signed by President Biden, and a medal. Congratulations Jennifer! Well deserved!
