TWIF was nonprofit organization on a mission to get people, just like you, involved in giving back to the Seattle community. We’re a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)3 organization here to make volunteering a fun and social experience for Seattle people, businesses, and nonprofits. We seek to banish the ol’ bake sale stereotype and get you excited about giving back to your community by broadening the scop

e of volunteerism and revamping existing charitable programs. Our mission is to remind you that volunteering is not a chore - it makes the world fun! People:
TWIF works within Seattle communities to create new opportunities for people to give back in a way that is social and philanthropic. We connect people to volunteer activities that fit each individual’s interests, passions, and busy schedules while introducing them to a new network of friends. Businesses:
TWIF connects Seattle businesses to charitable causes and events that align with their goals and values. We create custom volunteering opportunities and marketing strategies that engage company stakeholders and allow the business to raise awareness for the causes they think are important. Nonprofits:
What makes TWIF stand out as a volunteer organization is our ability to problem solve, help promote, and organize volunteer events for our fellow nonprofits. We help identify areas where an existing volunteer program can improve or expand and find ways to make it even more awesome! Events:
TWIF creates fundraising events that show Seattleites that hosting and attending a charitable function is fun and something anyone can do (not just those with large bank accounts). Whether we’re planning a meal drive for those in need or growing facial hair for foster kids, we’d love to help you make your next volunteer event a tremendous success! Here are some ways you, your employer or your favorite nonprofit can get involved and give back to your community:
-Volunteer your time at our great events
- Register your business as a TWIF member
- Sign up your nonprofit to be a partner

After 10+ years in the Seattle Nonprofit Community, we’ve made the difficult decision to shut down The World is Fun. That doesn’t mean you can’t continue finding fun ways to be involved and give back in Seattle.

Many of our amazing non-profit partners ( https://loom.ly/fPf-kl4 ) have opportunities, or you can see our recent blog post ( https://loom.ly/7Wvt-pU ) for a few more ideas. Thank you all for an awesome 10+ years!

Volunteer Staff member positions require a commitment of only 8-10 hours per month for a minimum of one year. We offer a lot of flexibility in when and how you complete those hours and many of the tasks and responsibilities can be done remotely, working online, at a time that is convenient for you. These positions do require mandatory attendance at a monthly team meeting (usually held on Monday or Tuesday evenings). These positions are 100% volunteer with no financial compensation.

The World is Fun is growing and we are looking for awesome people, just like you, to join our volunteer staff. The Director of Human Resources serves as a member of the leadership team, and provides expert knowledge and support to these leaders and the rest of management on Human Resource related issues, and provides input and support on the affiliate leadership team on general business issues. Our mission is to get people involved in giving back to the Seattle community and our volunteer staff makes this all possible - join us today!

A letter from the founder of The World is Fun:

Seattle and much of our entire country is suffering right now. Not just with the health epidemic that we are facing, but also the subsequent mental health and financial strain the virus has left in its wake.

When I started The World is Fun eleven years ago, it was in direct response to the recession we were facing and the belief that if we engaged our community in giving back we could recover quicker and form the much needed bonds within our community that bring us together, provide a sense of pride and belonging, and strengthen us.

In feeling helpless in what to do as I have watched our beloved local businesses suffer and financial hardships spread throughout the city I have been working closely with the The World is Fun’s Board of Directors to determine how our programs and services can best assist in our community.

We have decided to respond by doing the thing we do best - which is engaging volunteers. Since 2014, we have had an online program for those wishing to get a certificate in volunteer leadership that covers all aspects of volunteer engagement and management. This program has been available, in the past, for a fee or to a select few who have received a scholarship from our organization. We know that in order to rebuild quickly we need more people in our communitiies with the skills to engage volunteers and for this reason we will be offering the online program for free for anyone in the country that is interested in honing their volunteer leadership skills.

Our hopes in offering this program is that we will be able to make a significant impact on the volunteer efforts as we navigate these difficult times and that this will provide valuable skills to the nonprofits out there that need support.

The program consists of six modules that you can complete online, at your own pace. The modules cover all aspects of volunteer management from recruitment, working with volunteers, retention, and more. In addition to the six modules, you will receive six group video coaching calls, and those that wish to obtain their Volunteer Leadership Certificate will be eligible to do so after they complete six volunteer opportunities within their community.

We know in the scheme of everything happening this is merely a minor contribution but we sincerely believe that ever contribution can make a difference and if we come together we will all get through this quicker.

If you, or anyone you know is interested in the Volunteer Leadership Program please visit theworldisfun.org/vlp
