Friends for Life - a Seattle Children's Hospital Guild

Friends for Life - a Seattle Children's Hospital Guild Since 2006 we have raised funds for Seattle Children's Hospital pediatric cancer research. Join us!

We raise money to fund pediatric cancer research at Seattle Children's Hospital. More children die from cancer each year than from AIDS, asthma, diabetes, and cystic fibrosis COMBINED. Of the children who survive, 60% are left with long-term negative side-effects from the treatment. The Friends for Life Guild of Seattle Children's Hospital was created in 2006 to help change these facts.

Meet Camden, the Friends for Life Guild 2025 ambassador!

From the moment Camden could smile, he lit up every room he entered. The 7-year-old loves animals, painting, and music. He’s known as the “family extrovert,” because he’s always had a gift for connecting with others.

Last year he was diagnosed with an extremely rare malignant brain tumor called a germinoma. Thanks to a special test developed at Seattle Children’s, doctors were able to accurately determine Camden's tumor without doing an extremely dangerous and risky biopsy.

After completing 4 rounds of chemotherapy and 20 sessions of proton radiation, Camden is now officially cancer-free. He's back to making new friends wherever he goes.

Purchase Camden’s special handblown glass votive or ornament today to celebrate his survivorship and help fund critical childhood cancer research so more children can survive and thrive beyond treatment! https://friendsguild.org/shop/

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
• Childhood cancer is the # 1 disease killer of children in the U.S.
• Globally, it is estimated more than 400,000 children are diagnosed with cancer annually.
• Approximately 1 in 263 children in the US will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 20.
• In the mid 1970’s, 58% of children (0-14 years) and 68% adolescents (15-19 years) with cancer survived at least 5 years. Today that number is 85% overall.
•While great progress has been made in curing some types of
childhood cancers, for others progress has been limited, and
for some there is still no cure.
•Progress is because of research. RESEARCH = HOPE
