Capitol Hill Renter Initiative

Capitol Hill Renter Initiative This is a place for renters to stay up-to-date on what's happening in the neighborhood and how to take action.

Join our closed group (under the same name) to engage in discussions and connect with other renters. Renters make up 80% of the people living in the heart of Capitol Hill, but they lack a voice in important decisions about our neighborhood. As rents spiral upward and the City considers big housing and livability policies, the decisions we make now will shape the future of Capitol Hill and Seattle

for many years to come. Renters’ voices need to be front and center in these decisions. We comprise the majority of residents on Capitol Hill. This is a place to to stay up-to-date on what's happening in the neighborhood and how to take action. Join our closed group (under the same name) to engage in discussions, connect with other renters, to talk about the things that we love and the things that we'd like to change about the neighborhood. CHRI is a project of the Capitol Hill Eco District and staffed by Capitol Hill Housing. The views expressed on this page represent the views of CHRI members and not necessarily CHH or the EcoDistrict.

RUBS, the Ratio Utility Building System gaining rapid adoption in Seattle and the region, is making utility costs skyrocket for many renters - especially those in properties managed by Cornell & Associates.

# Landlords have used ratio utility billing systems as a backdoor to jack up rents. It’s time to ban the practice in Washington State.
