We have 670 days until the 2026 Golden Globe Race starts.

We are writing this post as an update and an ask for your support of our GGR campaign. If you can share this with your network, it will mean the world to us. Your own contributions are always welcome.

Your workplace may offer matching funds to select nonprofits during this season. Around-n-Over is in the system on Benevity which is commonly used in large companies to facilitate charitable giving. If so we would encourage you to recruit your colleagues to our cause as well.

We are actively seeking sponsorships to be able to redirect donations equally to ILKYAR Foundation in Turkey and to Ocean Recovery Alliance. Until then, donations will keep our GGR campaign alive.

PLANS

Erden is in the process of transferring S/V CLARA's vessel documentation from UK to the USA. She has already been assigned an Official Number and a brand new Hull Identification Number never having had one before.

He will take along tools, parts, reference books and victuals in three duffels on my mid-December flight to Portugal. After a thorough preparation at Lagos through January, he will launch toward the Canaries. From there he will reach alone across to the east coast of USA.

Erden's return trip toward Lorient in France will start most likely from Annapolis on or around April 1st.

The world produces about 500 million metric tons of plastic today 11 of which leaks into The Ocean and that leak will triple by 2040.

"Since the 1970s, the rate of plastic production has grown faster than that of any other material. If historic growth trends continue, global production of primary plastic is forecasted to reach 1,100 million tonnes by 2050."
