We are more than just a tour. Our history doesn’t start with slavery, and it certainly doesn’t end there.

​But as we traveled through the Deep South for our HBCU tour last month, stopping at the Whitney Plantation in Louisiana was a non-negotiable.
​We didn’t bring our students to this ground to anchor them in past pain—we brought them here to anchor them in perspective and progress.

​To stand in this space is to realize that the doors open to our youth today aren’t just luck. They are legacies. Every campus we visit, every degree we pursue, and every single opportunity we seize is a direct tribute to the resilience of those who came before us.

​We brought them here to see how far we’ve come, so they understand the power and the weight of the torch they carry next. Knowing what it took to get us here means we can never take our futures for granted.
​We owe it to our roots to take advantage of every open door. 🎓✊🏾

We are so thankful to all of our mothers! Here is a special tribute from two of our scholars, Savannah and Amira who attended our April HBCU tour sharing their appreciation to their mothers! Special shout out to Savannah for being committed and accepted into Bethune-Cookman University this Fall with a full ride!!! We are so proud of all of our scholars! There’s nothing like the warmth of a community coming together! ❤️ This month’s Family Table was extra special as we gathered to honor the incredible queens who make it all possible—our mothers and mother figures.

​We also want to give a shout-out to our Young Queens program facilitators, DonMarie and Tamika. Their journey is a true testament to our mission—both started as scholars in our programs, went on to graduate from prestigious HBCUs (DonMarie from Clark Atlanta University and Tamika from Howard University), and have now returned to work with us to pour back into the next generation! 🎓✨

​A huge thank you to for their generous heart—gifting our mothers with beautiful self-care treats to remind them just how much they are cherished. 👑🎁

Our final stop on the Deep South tour brought us to the historic campus of Xavier University of Louisiana—the first time we've visited this campus, and the energy was unmatched. ⚜️

​It’s one thing to tour a school, but it’s another to see our own scholars thriving there.

The XULA legacy is already strong within the L.E.G. family:
​Camryn (slide 8): We are so incredibly proud of our 2025 grad! Seeing her as a proud XULA alum is a reminder of why we do this work. 🎓✨

​Rochelle (slide 9): Currently a powerhouse in her first year! Not only is she excelling in the classroom, but she just helped her team bring home the NAIA Cheerleading National Championship trophy! 🏆📣

​Watching our students not just attend these institutions, but conquer them, was the perfect finish to an incredible Spring Break. Xavier, you were the perfect finale—we’re leaving New Orleans inspired and ready for what’s next! 🕊️💛

It really does take a village, and today, we’re making ours even stronger!

We are so excited to officially launch TheVillageWrap ! Starting today, we’re presenting this new offering to families with youth ages 5-20 across Seattle/King County, Tacoma/Pierce County.

The Village Wrap isn’t just a program: it’s a circle of support. We’re bringing together coordinated behavioral health supports, professional therapy, peer mentoring, and community building events to make sure our young people and families have the love & support all of us need to thrive!

We are so grateful for our partnership with You Grow Girl, who has been a part of strengthening the L.E.G village for over a decade and will be providing therapeutic supports for The Village Wrap. Whether it’s navigating mental health, parenting support or just having a listening ear of someone who truly gets it, we’re here to wrap our community in care.

We’re coming together to share a meal, hear inspiring stories, and give a special tribute to the incredible women who pour so much into our lives.

We are so proud to highlight the incredible journeys of two of our own, currently thriving at Clark Atlanta University! Their paths show exactly why we do what we do! Creating a direct pipeline to post-secondary success.

​🎓 Naomi Kirori | Class of 2026
Naomi’s journey began with our 2019 East Coast Black College Tour and continued on the 2022 Down South Tour. It was during that 2022 visit that she fell in love with CAU. Next month, she’ll be graduating with her degree in Mass Media Arts!

​📚 Mariette Jones | First-Year Student
Mariette is a true testament to staying connected. Starting in middle school with The Scholars Project, she then joined us for the 2023 Down South Tour and most recently participated in our Youth in Business program. Now, she’s successfully finishing her first year as a Psychology major at Clark!

​Whether it’s a 4-year HBCU, vocational trade, or a 2-year institution, our programs are designed to help students find their "where next."
