Congratulations MST2 Cramer! MST2 was selected as the first ever recipient of the Emerald City CGEA Educational Grant. She is currently working to complete her bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences from Oregon State University.

The Emerald City CGEA Educational Grant was established late in 2022, after identifying a need to support junior members who are seeking to attain higher level education and still incurring costs not covered by Tuition Assistance. The award is for $300 and the applicant must be at a minimum, active duty, E-6 and below, currently utilizing TA, maintain a 3.0 GPA or greater, and complete an essay. The Greater Seattle Chief Petty Officer Association is proud to announce the 2023 Terry Sherwood Memorial Education Grant. We are offering three grants towards educational expenses. Any dependent of an Active Duty United States Coast Guard member (can be completed by their guardian) who is attached to a unit that is represented in the Greater Seattle CPOA is eligible.

The grant values are as follows:
1st place - $1,000
2nd place - $500
3rd place - $500

Applications must be received via email sent to [email protected] or postmarked no later than May 31, 2023. The winner will be announced on June 15, 2023.

In the past, we have had very little interest to the point where multiple awards were left ungranted. Please help us gain more attention with this initiative and share this post! Full details are included on the application, but please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.

Massive thank you to everyone who donated, purchased and supported our Valentines Bake Sale. Your efforts helped raise nearly $800 that will be used to directly support junior Coast Guard members in need.
